Sorry for the old-fashioned video player - we're working on getting a Youtube channel set up at some point. My dad passed away a month ago and I'm trying to publish his many, many works.

For those unable to load the video (and those unable to see the video) - my dad built a greenhouse on the kitchen roof when I was a kid. He was severely visually impaired so did most of it by touch. It didn't leak either - you entered it via some french doors in our bathroom. He grew tomatoes, chilli peppers and lots of other stuff.

The video starts with him cleaning the inside of the windows, reveals the panorama below when the doors open and then shows him skirting around the outside ledge hanging onto a rope while cleaning the outside windows.

I filmed it - must have been about 15 or 16. The fact that he built it while unable to see never hit me when I was young. Only as I got older did I realise what an achievement it was. He was a special person, my old man.

He is a great person indeed, never forget your father and try to be like/better than him, keep up the love and the memories of your father. Best wishes!

Your dad sounds like a fascinating person, I wish I could watch this video! I'm enjoying your posts about him. Thank you.

if you're interested, I'm putting everything in a blog at: http://spirosueref.blogspot.co.uk/

I'll have the greenhouse video on there, soon. A few others are already available.

He was a very interesting man. Had a good (if too short) life.
