Actually, I'm blind, and don't even use the computer for reddit. Using a android phone, google talk back, and a reddit app called reddit is fun.

They probably read it about as well as you do.

It doesn't say it's *for* the blind.

Ahh. My bad. When I read it, I thought it said it was for them. I read just a bit too fast. :(

Actually blind people can use computers and several blind people have participated in this subreddit before. They use software called a "screen reader" to read the content of the page either using synthesized speech, or on a refreshable braille display.

I use a screen reader running on Linux. I do have plenty of trouble posting to most subreddits, due to visual captchas, though. Also, the mobile site is easier to navigate than the regular site. FWIW, I maintain a Linux live CD customized for the blind. It can be found at $1.

Yeah, I don't comment on my own due to the 'are you human' put in the letters and numbers. If I need to start a thread somewhere in reddit, I wait until my wife is around and puts them in for me. But I do comment alot lol.

There have been a few AMAs that answered this question.

Depends on what you define as "Blind". Sight is not a black or white topic, you don't see or not see their are many shades of grey. I am legally blind but i do not need a screen reader to read reddit. I do use VoiceOver on my phone to read reddit because the text is so much smaller. In general a "Blind" perosn who has no sight would use a screen reader called JAWS.
