What is the best smartphone slash OS for blind individuals?

I highly recommend the iPhone. The dictation, voiceover, and low vision accessibility features are top notch and well-designed. Most of the applications available for the iPhone are accessible, and more and more of them are working on making thiers fully integrated with voiceover functionality.

I am not totally blind, but I have low vision. I've had a lot of different phones, but I always come back to the iPhone. The main reason is the accessibility settings (voiceover especially) and the fact that there is a whole website called AppleVis that is devoted to low vision and blind Apple device users.
it seems to me that android has a very similar thing to voiceover - is it not good?

Android's can be more finicky and it is not as integrated into the system. I've had both, and I much prefer the IOS voiceover.

Hmmm, tricky since phones are touchscreens now. Kinda miss the old keypads as I could tell you what button was what in my pocket but that's what I'd recommend first, an "older" phone.

iPhone for sure. Voice over blows any other phone out of the water.
