Movies with subtitled dialogue scenes (self.Blind)
submitted 8y ago by Bob_0119
So, I took my wife to see the last Planet of the Apes movie and didn't realize my tactical error until after the movie started that most of the ape scenes would be subtitled. I sat quietly stewing over the fact that I was missing most of the movie and thought "there should be some way to know if a movie uses scenes with subtitled translations".

Of course, if you search for such a thing, most of what you get back are for people who want to add subtitles to pirated movies.

Does anyone know if there is a way to find out about such things *before* going to see a movie? You'd think it be in IMDB or something, but I'm not having a lot of luck.

Netflix just released it's DAC tracks for Daredevil, with more original series in the pipeline.

Before watching a movie, see if the screenplay was posted somewhere. Surprisingly, this happens pretty frequently: either someone leaks the screenplay, or a fan transcribes the entire movie and describes all the action. I...assume this is done to make it easy to search through when writing fanfic, or something. Regardless, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Before I go and watch any kind of movie or TV show with friends, I read the script first, when I can find it. That way, I don't have to bother my friends and family by turning on the audio description track, as this drives sighted people crazy. I only use AD when I'm entirely on my own, or can't find a screenplay. Unfortunately, the Dawn script hasn't leaked, yet. But when it does, It'll probably be here: http://www.imsdb.com/alphabetical/D

Have you tried looking for a theater with audio descriptions? Many theaters now give you wireless headphones that have a second audio track with description of everything visual.

I haven't, but I don't usually struggle with the visuals. I might try that with Netflix's Daredevil just to see how it works.
