How does a blind user train Dragon NaturallySpeaking? (self.Blind)
submitted 8y ago by rg85
Hello,

I support an individual who uses a combination of JAWS, J-Say and Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Whenever he needs to do voice training for Dragon I end up whispering the lines of text to him while he repeats them. This process is incredibly tedious as you can imagine and I was wondering how other blind users interact with the training portion. I suppose I could set JAWS to read line by line, but sometimes it's difficult for him to repeat what was just heard. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

J-say has a training feature that reads back six or seven words of the text and lets the the blind person say that. It can then read the next six or seven words. The new versions of dragon even work well without training.

I don't use it at all, or JAWS. Although I assume NVDA would read the lines, since it's Superior to JAWS IMo, but not many blind people I know use voice to control their computer. If I'm ever in a situation where my screen reader isn't working, I can always just turn on Narrator.
