Do blind people ever make audio recordings in place of taking a photo?(self.Blind)

Went to a funeral. Videographer's microphone broke half way through. My phone ran out of space half way through. My friends phone ran out of space half way through. The blind guy who works for the church (plays organ) makes audio recordings of every service/funeral. The videographer was able to use his audio to finish producing his videos for the family. He even records when standing outside the church meeting with people after the service. He makes them state their full name, contact info, and how they might be related or associated with him.
Google just launched a new photos service for saving "memories" in the form of photos and video. But for the blind musician all his audio recordings are his memories. I'm wondering if any other blind people do this. I've found lots of information about apps that assist blind people with taking photos. Google photos won't let you upload just an audio file.

Little late, but yes, I'm really into recording. I have a pair of binaural mikes. I put them in my ears, and I use them to record everything around me. They are basicallly like a Go Pro, but for audio. When I turn my head, if your listening to the recording, all the sounds will rotate around. It gives the effect that when your listening to the recording, your actually there.

I'm sighted but my fiancée is blind, she loves taking video recordings of family events and such so she can go back and listen to the audio later. We went to Niagara Falls recently and she made recordings of the sound of the falls. They're her pictures since she can no longer see well enough for photographs.

Hi. Would you say her videos are worth watching or is most of the value just in the audio?
I'm in a debate with some trolls over whether or not Google Photos and similar services should allow uploading audio, but I'm certain these people have never met a blind person. That's kind of their justification, "I've never met a blind person so I doubt any of them would use Google photos."

It goes both ways, sometimes she'll record and point her phone to get the video as well but sometimes she'll start recording and set the phone down so the video is just black. When she does try to record video it is fun to watch but even when it is all black I enjoy listening with her. That is as close as she comes to doing straight audio files. I will say there is nothing she loves more than finding out something is accessible to her. She takes pictures with her phone too. I guess what people like the trolls you mentioned don't realize is just because she's blind, that doesn't mean everybody she knows is blind. She loves taking and sending people pictures. She would most likely love to use something like what you described if it included the ability to add audio files.

I use Voice Memos a lot. Instead of writing notes. Or taking photos.
I take photos too. But becaus I have also "an attitude", I want to show others what I see. So using Voice Memos or recording an Audioboom is a much better way to show what I "see". Or how I do stuff - how I cross a street, watch TV on phone etc.
IPhone's camera works beautifully with VoiceOver. When I can brain it..

Did your iPhone automatically back up your audio recordings to the internet?

It doesnʻt do that. I back up voice memos manually. AudioBooms I can load to the website - or often wdut them later beforeplaoding ghem.
