Visualize the braille sell as a box with six dots, two columns and three rows. The top most left is known as dot 1, The one underneath is known as dot 2, bottom left is 3, upper right is 4, middle right is 5, and bottom right is 6. Now that you are oriented to the numbers associated with the appropriate dots, there are a few ways of doing this, formally and casually. I will separate each cell with a comma, and the numbers I right out for each braille cell are the dots that will be activated/raised.
The letter B is: 1 2
The letter R is: 1 2 3 5
The number 117 is: 3 4 5 6, 1, 1, 1 2 4 5
The 3456 symbol tells you that the next symbols will be represented as a number rather than letters. Effectively, BR117 will look like:
12, 1235, 3456, 1, 1, 1245
there would be no spaces between the braille cells. Formally, to make the B and R capitalized, you would have to add two dot 6 Braille cells directly in front of what I wrote out above. So that would look like:
6, 6, 12, 1235, 3456, 1, 1, 1245
I hope this helps, and sorry for your loss.
