I third bluetooth speakers, with one warning. Make sure they're accessible to pair! Some speakers need you to hold down a button until the light flashes red to pair, and then you know it's paired correctly when the light turns green. Oh, and of course you know the battery is low when the yellow light comes on. On some speakers, the on-off button is even a touch toggle, so the only way to know if the speaker is on or off is by looking at a light.
For my portable listening needs, I have a creative d80, and I couldn't be happier with it. The on-off button is a large switch at the back, that clicks firmly from one setting to the other. It does sound a tone when you get it into pairing mode. It only has three buttons on the front (volume up, down, and another multi-function button), so no menus or complicated anything. It doesn't even take batteries, so I don't need to worry about that.
