Sprained ankle, long cane user? (self.Blind)
submitted by charliemyheart
Normally when this happened I would go to crutches, but now using a cane I know this (at least to me) doesn't seem like very much of a good idea.

I like using my cane, even though I do need more O&M training. The idea of crutches seems like handing over my freedom. What have others done it this situation and also really wanting to hear I am not odd for feeling this way.

I don't have any first hand advice but I'd say get in touch with your O&M, they may have ideas or experience with that situation or they may be able to help you work with a cane on crutches. It make take some imagination/ out of the box thinking, but I'm sure there is a way you can make it work if you work with an O&M.

Well was now told I don't have to use the crutches, keep it up, don't walk on it, and keep it wrapped by one of the nurses.

I had to limp. There really is no way to use with a cane. Not that I ever figured out.
