I have a question for someone who is blind(self.Blind)

I don't mean to come off as rude or anything but I had a thought the other day and I was wondering if a blind person when they dream if they see things and if you do would you describe what you see?

I didn't go blind until 3 years old, and to this day I'm always sighted in my dreams. It's really vivid, when I wake up I can still remember how beautiful the sky and the ocean looked in my dream, how the trees looked when wind blew, etc, etc. Not just concept, it's way more vivid than that- in some ways it's like everytime I wake up I'm going blind all over again lol.

We used to do a massive amount of Christmas decorations when I was younger... I'm talking, like, 25,000 individual lights. We once had a visit from a lady and her son, where she described all of the different decorations by color, shape, etc. He hadn't always been blind, and I could swear that he could "see" the lights based on her description. I imagine it was a similar feeling for him, and if so, it brings joy to me heart.

I can only imagine the pain in that.

Not that painful actually- in fact it's kind of refreshing cause while I sleep, I get to experience a piece of my memory that my waking self has forgotten.

That's nice.
Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

You should teach yourself to lucid dream, that is, to be able to control your dreams whilst you are in them. It could possibly allow you to explore sight. There's a subreddit for that, called /r/luciddreaming

No, my dreams are all audio. But that's probably different for those who previously had sight, and went blind later in life. More info about what my dreams are like is in $1 from 4 or so months ago on AskReddit.

Cool thanks for replying

Like /u/fastfinge, my dreams are in audio. I don't see colors, but I can tell you exactly what's going on. for example, if I was being chased through the woods, I could tell you who or what was chasing me, but nothing about what they look like.

I do, but I am visually impaired though not fully blind. I dream as I see. Something that just started though. I became visually impaired in febuary after a horse accident. Before a few weeks ago I was still dreaming like I have always have, my mind it seems has taken the memo I am blind and will be blind for the years to come.
Once in a while though I do dream in audio, these have always been dreaming about night, and being that I was born night blind it is all that shocking.
