I currently listen to 149 podcasts regularly or semi-regularly. What kind of things are you looking for?
I'm not sure this list will give you much insight into anything. I'm mostly including it to prove a point: the interests of blind people are so extremely wide and diverse, that outside of blindness itself, just because one blind person listens to it, doesn't mean all other blind people (or even one single other blind person) will like it.

You listen to Sawbones and Bunker Buddies but not My Brother My Brother and Me?? I love the McElroy family! Adventure Zone is also pretty fun!
fastfinge1 points7y ago
My Brother, My Brother and Me just felt too similar to Judge John Hodgman, to me, based on the one episode I listened to. And...I'm really pretty darn near the absolute maximum number of podcasts that I can fit into my life. Now that the MuggleNet Audio Fiction's podcast and Clockwise have both been discontinued within the last 2 or 3 months, I can maybe add two more to the list. But I want something that isn't similar to something I already listen to, if that makes any sense. I didn't get into Adventure Zone because the episodes don't stand alone. The way I listen to podcasts, I only keep the most recent episode of each show, so if I get busy for a week or two, I can miss episodes of podcasts, and I won't have the time or interest to go back to older episodes. So that means each episode needs to stand alone, and never depend on me having listened to the previous episode. The only exception to my stand-alone episodes rule, for the most part, is Welcome to Night Vale, because it's just that good.

That is an awesome reply! Holy wow.
First, that's a great list and you've intrigued me with some I didn't know were out there.
Second, good point. I guess I was curious if there are also podcasts you know of that are more focused to the blind community? Sounds like the Blind Hour is one?
fastfinge1 points7y ago
Yeah, The Blind Hour is one, and it's even made by an active member of this sub! Also Applevis, Blind Bargains, and all of the AMI podcasts are good blind focused ones. Glad you enjoyed my reply, even if I was being a little silly by listing them all. :-)
Lore is one of my favorites but there's a small handful. The Cult Cast Metal Injection Livecast Rooster Teeth Podcast How to be Blind Sometimes Applevis but it makes me crazy iBlindTech Democast The Nerdist Joe Rogan Experience Sometimes I listen to Snoop Doggs podcast Adventure sports Podcast Stuff You Should Know This American Life We Hate Movies The Dirtpod podcast Daily Tech News Show And occasionally something from the TWIT network. Ever since Sara and Tom left it just hasn't been the same.

Wow thank you this is a great list!! My mom who is blind loves serial but has difficulty navigating her iPad. Which devices do you listen on?
kuritsz1 points7y ago
heads up, you didn't specifically reply to /u/geoffisblindLCA (or u/fastfingeborn if that was your intention), so they probably won't see that you asked them a question.

I kind of go in and out of listening to podcasts depending on how busy I am. I am really into Welcome to Nightvale and listen to that pretty regularly although I am usually behind. I'll also listen to PKA which is hosted by a few YouTubers that I've been following for years, they are often too long for me to finish but I'll listen to a few hours here and there when I've got time. I also enjoy This American Life from NPR and Wiretap from CBC, although it's been a few years since I've listened to Wiretap. Another YouTuber, LinusTechTips does a weekly podcast type thing called The WAN Show that I enjoy but don't get a chance to listen to that much. I also enjoy The Tek from Tek Syndicate. I was super disappointed when Low Budget FM kind of stopped producing episodes, they were super funny. I get a chance to listen to The Blind Hour every once in a while and they have been doing some good stuff. Other than that I have plans to start listening to Upvoted, some of the NASA related podcasts, Tested, StarTalk, Serial, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head. I'm getting a new laptop soon which should help facilitate some of the storage constraints I currently have when it comes to downloading podcasts.

love hardcore history - haven't heard other ones. I also like Tim Ferris' podcast for some great interviews (he definitely likes himself a lot)
