I'd like to start a YouTube channel to give voice to written works for visually-impaired users. Is there any use for this? (self.Blind)

Hello /r/blind!

I am currently aspiring to do voice overs for documentaries, talking books, etc. I wanted to start a YouTube channel to practice and hone my craft, but there are already enough out there for audio books and I'd rather not reinvent the wheel. Is there currently a need for any existing written work (preferably in the public domain) to be voiced on a YouTube channel? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hmmm, you could always do web comics. Most of them are Creative Commons licensed, so describing them on YouTube should be OK. Something like $1 does for published comics and graphic novels. You'd need to write the descriptions yourself, though, so it might be a bit more work than you're looking for. But audio descriptions of Schlock Mercenary would be nice. :-)

I like that idea.

There are already a lot of other audiobook services out there, but it's always good to get new talent.

One thing that would be great would be more graphical things. I've listened to a Daredevil audio comic, but have found only one episode.

Audioboom and Soundcloud are also good chsnnel options when the video doesn't matter.
But with youtube it can probsbly be easier to bridge the sighted, partially sighted & blind around the same subject.

The voice if reading a book matters a lot. If you describe pictures or video, the description and narration matters. Practices makes one perfect.
