We are developing a device to help the visually impaired navigate their environment. Would any of you mind answering a few questions to help us design it? (self.Blind)
submitted by MITvisiondevice
We are a group of MIT students working on a device that converts visual information into auditory patterns. Our goal is to create a product that helps visually impaired people perceive spatial relationships in order to navigate their environment.

While we're developing prototypes, we would like to consult with blind people about what functionality they would find most useful. For all of you who are blind or know a blind person, would you be willing to talk with us and answer a few questions to help us develop the device? Feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. Thanks!

Can you give a bit more detail? Primarily, I'd like to know how what you're doing is different from $1.
