If I know there should be Braille somewhere, I grope around for it. In most buildings, for example, the Braille on doors and elivators is in the exact same place on every floor, in every room. So once I've found it once, I can find it again everywhere else in that building. But if I'm in an older building, or somewhere that doesn't have to follow the few access laws we have in Canada, I don't even bother trying to find Braille, because I know it won't exist.

Good question, hard answer. For me, fumbling around.

You just have to find it.
for instance at an ATM you either know where the machine is (if you use it frequently) or someone helps you get there. Then you try to figure the controls - where the card goes, where the headphone jack is etc.
not all atms have headphone jacks or braille, so ... How do you use it independently? I haven't found an atm i could use in 4 years.
In Europe i found some with buttons thst had braillem but no headphones... So how do I use those? No clue.
