Audio Component to Blog - Is this Something You'd Appreciate?(self.Blind)
submitted by VainbIade
Hello r/blind,
I'm not going to go into too much detail here since the question's pretty brief, but here's the gist of it: I'm part of a team developing an audiogame that's accessible without sight. As development is wrapping up, we're going to be running a development blog, of sorts.
The text blog is going to be accessibility compatible, but would files of us actually personally reading the blogposts (that would accompany the text posts) be something of interest?
We obviously care about the blind player community, or we wouldn't be making the game, so if audio versions of the blog posts would improve the experience in any significant way, it's something we would certainly like to do.
Thank you very much for your thoughts.

I sometimes like listening to voices speak and read but i prefer to be able to set the speed. So for comparison i usually listen to books about 2-2,5x speed, depending on reader, topic, and how awake i am. I can listen to stuff fast, so when people talk slow my mind wonders off fast... So set up a way to speed the audio up, up to 4x and a lot of b/vi users might like it. ;)

I see, I never would have thought of that! If we incorporate any voicelogs or anything of that nature, we'll be sure to include speed options. Thank you very much!

To me, no. Don't get me wrong: I love podcasts, and subscribe to several hundred of them! But I'd rather read a text post with my screen-reader; it reads much, much faster. Plus a development blog is likely to be full of exciting technical things, links to other places, and so on. But if you offer other interesting audio, like prototype demos and so-on, that really would be interesting. However, someone just reading the text really doesn't ad much.

That makes a ton of sense, thanks very much for the response. I look forward to being able to post some actual promotional material in not too long.
Thanks again!

For me, personally, no, but there may even be a few sighted folks who may like listening to the blog in their cars and stuff.
