Suggestion! Contact list App for low vision people (self.Blind)
submitted by Niconiki
Hi guys, my father suffers of a low vision condition; he is blind except from one eye that use only 18% of the potential vision.
Beacuse of this he usually uses a magnifier (a big stationary device at home) that encrease the size of the letters text so he can easly read newspaper and digital device when it's possible. The problem turns out when he is not at home and can't use the magnifier, he has a lot of difficult to interact with digital devices due to the standard text font that is too small to read.

He got for some time a Galaxy s3 recently replaced with Huawei p9 lite. With the s3 he can easly read the contact list cause samsung app has a black background with high contrast and allow him to change the font to a bigger size.
With huawei and in general Andoird L or M all the apps have a white background including the default contact list app. I increased the size of the font to the maximum value avaiable but it still not enough clear for him (also beacuse I can not change the light color of the background to encrease the contrast for a better vision).

I'm looking for a solution to make the font bigger than the actuall size and to change the background color to a darker one.
I'm also trying to convince my dad to use only voice commands but he find it difficult to use. It's a difficult transition O.O for a non digital native!

I hope that you guys can help me to find a solution.

Doesn't Android have anything like Siri? I've been using Siri to call my contacts ever since it's been integrated into iOS, even before going blind, simply because it's a lot more convenient than browsing the contact list.

Yes, android have Google Now that works like siri. I'm trying to get him to use voice commands that work very well.

Usually in contrast options you will see invert. While it makes colours look odd it will give the desired effect

Thanks for the advice. The problem with invert option is that in the other screens he cant read nothing, cause the app with dark background become white. :/ Unfortunately i can't enable this option only for the contact screen! Thanks :)
