I hate my phone zoom in features (self.Blind)
submitted by [deleted]
I have a iPhone 6 and I have some issues with it. For example I can't zoom in on the Internet when I am looking at all of the websites. Also I can't zoom in on certain websites. Also the zoom in feature in accessibility is very awkward and hard to control. It is very hard to look around and see what is on the screen with the 3 finger thing. I hope the make a more streamlined system. What do you think.

Yeah, mobile web pages can't be zoomed as they are supposed to be the right size for people with normal sight.

I agree, 3 fingers is too many fingers for a phone screen. I had and still have an iPhone 4S which is much smaller than the 6 and it was quite painful to pan around the zoomed screen. I have once suggested that the accessibility zoom use the pinch and single-finger pan gestures while the power button is pressed, but that suggestion was not accepted.

As awful as the user experience with zoom might be, do know that I'd much rather use zoom than VoiceOver.

You should take a look at the "Magnification Gestures" feature on Android devices. No complicated multi-finger gestures. Just enable it, triple tap with a single finger, and you're zoomed in -- anywhere.

My favorite bit, since I magnify things on my phone hundreds of times per day is temporary magnification mode. You can triple tap, but on the third tap, keep your finger down on the screen. Magnification will follow your finger as it moves across the screen, and things zoom out again as soon as you lift your finger.

It works really well!

Is there any way you could post a video of you doing this? I struggle with magnification features across both Android and iOS devices. It never seems to move where I want it or jumps further across the screen than I plan. My students struggle with using zoom, and I'm pretty sure it's because I struggle with using zoom.
