A Let's Play for the Blind (self.Blind)
submitted by Bartimaeus58
I'm thinking of doing a [let's play](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_Play_(video_gaming)) of a video game that would be specifically for the blind. My goal is to share my joy and love of video games to people who can't experience those games for themselves.

Do you think this is a something that a blind person would be interested in hearing ?
Do you have any ideas on how to optimally 'translate' a mainly visual experience into an auditory one?
Are there good platforms out there in which I could ask those questions other than this subreddit? I'm neither blind nor do I know anyone who is, so I'm unfamiliar with any online communities, this was the only community I could think of that I could reach.

I would suggest looking at games for everybody on youtube. Their format is great and do this

Games for everybody on YouTube is already doing this, and it's fantastic that more people want to try their hand at describing games. Before starting, I highly recommend you watch a movie with audio description turned on, or a Netflix show with audio description turned on, in order to get a decent sense of what can be done and is expected of description quality and style. Obviously, this technique will change based on doing it live rather than having it scripted, but there are some good description techniques that you can adapt into what you are planning to try. Games were a very large part of my life before I lost my vision, so being able to relive them or listening to one that I never got the chance to play is always fantastic!

I second $1. They're really the king of that space; the guy running it does an excellent job! Kind of sad he's only got 112 subs, but there you go.

Your username is a school for the blind in the Netherlands. Thought I'd point that out.

I would definitely check out /u/OfficialGFE channel, Game For Everybody. He plays games that require sight and describes them. If this is what you're planning to do, by all means go for it, I'll subscribe for sure.

There's games for the blind but if you really want to bring sighty games to the blind lots of description from someone that loves the game and game design. Possibly done best if you get in guest speakers and have them all describe the lot at once with everyone on teamspeak and one person playing the game.

Purely coincidental. It's the name of the main character in Jonathan Straud's Bartimaeus Trilogy. A pretty witty sorta-modern fantasy book in a pretty dis utopian society.

YouTube Projared has some really good LPs. I imagine something like that but more descriptive.

How about Beyond Eyes? PS4 game with a blind main character. She goes out to find her missing cat. She'll hear, feel, or smell something and she'll think it's one thing. Then she goes up close and realizes it's something completely different. Like for example, she hears water moving and thinks it's a fountain. She walks to it and it's a storm drain.

Thanks for the fast replies !

Amazingly, the first game on his channel, Undertale, is the game that I wanted to play.

I'm so happy to see there's someone out there whose trying to be inclusive and passionate about the things I love.
I'll watch his play-through of the game and try to determine if I think there's additional value in capturing and uploading my own or alternatively if there are any other video games I'd like to put out there for everyone to enjoy.

He's certainly got a new subscriber !

Yeah he's a really cool dude. I'll let him know you subscribed. His channel deserves way more.
