Not blind but serious question for the blind. (self.Blind)
submitted by ICUMTARANTULAS
If someone who is blind, takes a visual hallucinogenic, such as pylociban mushrooms, LSD, or DMT, do you get hallucinations?

The visual cortex of the brain for someone who is congentially blind usually is being used for processing different senses. For example, the portion of the brain that processes reading lights up for blind people when they read Braille.

I think it would also depend on if the person was born blind (congenital) or lost his vision later in life. Someone who lost his vision later in life has visual memory and their visual cortex still have visual processing, so it should be possible for them to get visual hallucincations.

The one person I know who was congenitally blind and took hallucinagens said he mostly got synesthesia.

Synesthsia? Like when you can see what you smell or hear? Wow, that's honestly really interesting if it is indeed what I'm thinking about.

I have synesthesia, so if you want to know more about it, just ask me.

Oh cool. So what senses are mixed for you?
BlueJayFilms 3 points 6y ago
It cn be in different cases. 1 of which is mixed senses, but another is seeing things in color that shouldn't be in color. For me, I see numbers and letters as color, and because of that, every single letter and number I see, except if they're already in color, is in color.

Yes, mixed up senses. He said Braille was musical.
