> Oh, and MLP... It has its own fanfic site, and it's terrible.
I don't actually know much about the internal politics of fimfiction.net. I get all my pony fiction recs from reviewers like
$1. The few times I did venture down into the comments, because I wanted clarification on some story aspect or something, I didn't notice anything wrong with them. Also, fimfiction offers epub downloads by default, so fimfiction.net is best fanfic site. Oh, and the little "also liked/similar" thing on each story page is nice; I've found a few gems through that. I'd never post a comment there, though; they require a profile avatar before even allowing you to post comments. I'm not creating a pony OC, and then commissioning someone to draw it, just to post on a website; GTFO!
> assholes will run up to you and insult you
fanfiction.net reviewers are just as bad. If it were up to me, making any comment about the author in a review, good or bad, would be an instant ban. I highly enjoy making fun of badfic; but making any comment about the authors of the fics I'm mocking is way out of bounds.
> wasn't there a MLP animation starring an original character named Snowblind?
I wouldn't know. The only MLP art I pay attention to is fanfic, music, and radio dramas. I can follow the show because of the high quality transcripts, but fan animation isn't going to be described at all, so I'm not interested.
> ...in a more metaphorical sense...
The only time I've ever heard someone described as having a "dark heart" it was because they're evil. To me, that reads like she's calling her Sue evil, because she's blind. It makes me giggle.
> on why HPMOR is the worst work of fiction on the planet,
It's really not that bad, though! I mean, it isn't good, I grant you. But the things you're complaining about are all things other fics have done, and done much worse. Sure, it's obviously an AU. But thousands of fanfic authors change the rules of the universe to fit the plot. The ones who make me crazy are the ones who aren't familiar enough with the original work to even know they're getting the rules wrong! HPMOR knows it's making changes, and tries to justify them, at least.
> Remember when events conspired to force Hermione into an unbreakable vow that made her Harryzer's slave?
Well, at least HPMOR never did anything objectionable with it. Have you ever read
$1? In that fic, events conspire to force every female character in Hogwarts (including the teachers), plus some OCs, to be Harry's sex slave. He has so many sex slaves the author has to put a scorecard in every chapter to help readers keep track of them all! Oh, and I should warn you: that has graphic non-consensual sex in it. You can skip all of those bits without missing any of the "plot", though. I'm sorry, but HPMOR just can't compare. It doesn't even rate a place in the top 50 of badness. It's just a mediocre adventure comedy. It's mediocre because the comedy isn't funny, and the adventure isn't that interesting.
