Are there ways to learn Braille without a VI teacher? (self.Blind)
submitted by [deleted]
So I have an AWFUL VI teacher. It's bad. She's the reason that I don't know any Braille anymore.

She "tested" me last session (I only see her once every other week, she moved me to every other week without telling anyone), and although I couldn't identify half the letters, much less read the page of contracted Braille.

But she somehow ignored all that, and said that I only need help with a few contractions.

When I tried to tell her about how bad my vision is now, and that I need Braille more than ever as I can't read print, she said two things
A. You're a kid you don't know anything
B. She muttered about how I'm being "needy" and a liar.

So I think she's a lost cause.

Are there any ways to learn Braille without a VI teacher? I really need it now, and she's not even trying to help

Hadley school for the blind.

Also... why in the world would she be saying you need contractions? You should master Level 1 before Level 2, and there are no contractions in Level 1.

I have no idea. The woman barely knows Braille herself
