Before going blind I had the best possible visual acuity one can have without being considered sighted (10% or 20/200) with a full field of view and normal contrast, color, and light perception, and I never had to use a cane, but had trouble counting coins. I also read normal sized print because for some reason I could look much closer than most people without losing focus.

A weird confession: if I don't want to admit people what i see (or rather, don't) i use the color blidnness thing now. It helps being a female, and finding the blue shades difficult even without trying. :(
