Accessing podcasts for totally blind? (self.Blind)
submitted by Thug4Life69
My brother is completely blind and listens to lots of audiobooks on CD. I know he would love podcasts but I haven't seen a good device that's accessible to the blind. Does anyone have any experience with podcasts? Are there any ways of making an ipod touch or something similar accessible using siri or something? Are there any better devices out there? Thanks!

I write a collection of apps for the blind. I have a podcatcher for both Windows and Mac called QCast. You can find it at https://GetAccessibleApps.com/qcast

every apple device has voiceover which is a fully functional screen reader but I access podcasts through my apple TTV. If he has a victor reader stream, new generation, that is a device that has buttons on it and its slightly easier to use.

I use my iPhone for podcasts with Voice over and it works pretty well. I definitely recommend an iPhone if she is comfortable with an iPod. It's super easy to learn to use too.

I know someone who is blind, and she listens to podcasts all the time. I think she mainly uses her iPhone, with voiceover. She also uses her laptop (running Windows). She also uses a BrailleNote, but I'm not sure if she uses it for podcasts.

I use my iPhone with the podcasts app. This seems like the easiest way to find basically any podcast about anything.
