Camcorder for my father (self.Blind)

Hi /r/Blind, I have never been here before, but you could be a great resource for me!
My father is legally blind (has been his whole life) and is always trying to find a video camera which is easy enough to use for him. Previously he has picked out the cylindrical ones, so he can just point them. A big point is knowing when the camera is recording. We don't have a recording of my bro's wedding because of this (it's a good chuckle though, 20 minutes of auto staring at the floor.)
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Has he thought about an iPhone? Apparently the camera on them is pretty good these days, and VoiceOver really is the best access to any device that you can get.

He's quite Adamant about a particular flip phone. I'll give it a try next time I can play with a friends. Is there any YouTube videos that would be specific about accessibility options?

Do you know how much vision he has. Also what is he wanting to do with the camera

He is legally blind, but he can read and use the computer, but foreign sites (not his usual daily visits) are usually a big challenge.
This nonprofit website is run by volunteers.
