So this issue has been plaguing me for quite some time now and really drives me up the wall. Google Maps hates high contrast, which means it is light grey on white - i.e. it is a blinding white that sears what vision I have (which admittedly is pretty good given I don't need any magnification beyond standard settings and using inverted colour/high contrast).
On Firefox and IE, which have high contrast set through the Windows window display options, Google Maps loads as normal (i.e. is unaffected by the high contrast settings). In Google Chrome, it's a bit more complicated. Google Chrome (if you are not aware) is unaffected by Window's window display settings, so I have the High Contrast Extension installed. This extension allows for a bit more flexibility (which is great) so you can set increase contrast, greyscale or yellow on black in addition to white on black. With Google Maps what usually happens is it loads in high contrast (e.g. white on black) but either shortly after loading, or if I seek to re positioned the map, it switches off as it refreshes. Sometimes it doesn't even load in high contrast.
It is particularly frustrating because it used to work just fine (don't ask me when, I switched to Firefox because of the High Contrast Extension's temperamental behaviour some time ago now).
Does anyone have any alternatives or knowledge on how I can get high contrast working on Google Maps again? I don't tend to use it on my phone (I prefer to suss it ahead of time and use my memory), so desktop solutions are my focus.
Cheers in advance for any assistance :)
