Hi! Looking for individuals with visual impairment to participate in interview for a visual impairment device!(self.Blind)
submitted by berk_bear17
Hi! I am a senior mechanical engineering student at UC Berkeley, and I am working on developing a device that will help the blind or visually impaired within their homes. The actual product has not yet been decided; we need your knowledge and feedback to identify which problems need solving!
We are looking to interview people with visual impairments as soon as possible to better understand their needs and the obstacles that they face. Any feedback will be very helpful in driving the direction of our project, and my team and I would greatly appreciate it :)
Please let me know if you or someone you know would be interested, and I will contact you privately. Thank you!

Hi, I'm not blind but my eyesight is starting to fade. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. Thanks and good luck with your academic pursuits.

I would be interested in helping you guys out. I'm actually just across the bay over in San Francisco!

If you do make it, at least have a text input option because there are blind people who stutter. $1

Try $1 over in San Francisco. You'll potentially get lots of great input. Unfortunately, you just missed the February meeting but the next one is March 8, and they may be able to connect you in the meantime.

hi, great suggestion! Some of my other team members went to Lighthouse today and checked out the lab as well. They have youth groups (on weekends) and senior groups (weekdays), which could be a valuable resource for our interviews

The Lighthouse Labs group specifically is made up of some of the most tech-minded blind people in the area. Checking in with the senior/youth/other groups there makes a lot of sense as well, and LH Labs specifically can help with more tech guidance. Feel free to PM me as well.
