can't get emacspeak installed (self.Blind)

I am wondering if anyone got EmacSpeak installed on Debian? I downloaded the tar from the site and unzipd it. I did make and make install I had all the things it needed. I even downloaded Emacs before trying to install. So for anyone who got it installed what did you do and what were your steps.
