Thoughts on reviving Audyssey magazine? (self.Blind)
submitted by rkingett
I had an idea to revise Audyssey magazine, but this time make it a subscription only magazine with only samples of reviews and essays available on the web. If people want to read an issue then they will need to either buy an issue or a season pass. I want to pay all of my writers even freelance writers.

For the folks not in the know, Audyssey was a magazine that reviewed audio games.

I want to take it a step further and have essays, interviews, strategy guides, and reviews, and walkthroughs, even.

I also want to have a podcast reading of some of the written work, with sponsorship from the AT industry and otherwise. The podcast would be like the Modern Love podcast, where people read text, but it would be like a 10 minute sample with an interview with the author afterwards.

This is gonna be a huge project, with a lot of work and otherwise put in to it. Did people enjoy Audyssey magazine when it was around? Any ideas? Know anyone who would advertise in our issues?

I doubt anyone will pay for this. On release a major audiogame struggles to get 500 buyers. I can't see people subscribing yearly to a magazine about games. Speaking for myself, as much as I love gaming, I couldn't justify it in my budget. What money I do spend on games, I want to spend on actually purchasing games. If I did subscribe to a magazine at all (currently I don't pay for any magazine style writing), it'd be something more directly related to my work, like Arse Technica. Either that or an online subscription to my local newspaper. I'm afraid a magazine about audiogames just isn't enough of a value ad for me.

That is the exact kind of feedback I was looking for! :)
