It is definitely the other way around. Uber doesn't have nearly as strict and onboarding policy when it comes to hiring new drivers, and there have been many more unsafe incidents involving Uber drivers than with Lyft. Uber still has problems with drivers not taking guide dogs, and Lyft has definitely quelled that. As a company, Uber is Morley defunct as they do not treat the drivers well, most of the passengers are very rude when it comes to shared rides, they don't follow the law or rules wherever they end up spreading, they are politically backwards, and have come out as a tremendously sexist company culture in recent news. The whole company is just bad news all around.
I will say that I do work for Lyft as a contractor, making sure the app and features work for the blind and visually impaired, but bias aside, I had those feelings about Uber long before I was hired to work at Lyft. It may be different in other parts of the country, but over here in San Francisco, Uber is terrible.
