Pdf for blind and VI people (self.Blind)
submitted by sliprose
Hello, I'm a student who have to write a paper to graduate on a scale of 1 to 3 the level of accessibility of a pdf.

So i already did so researsh, read the The Matterhorn Protocol, and some survey.
But i want more information, and reddit seems to be a good place to have the opinion from a lot of different people.

So, do you read pdf, with some kind of screan reader? If not how do you read them?

What do you use to make pdf accessible? Does it make them perfectly accessible after that?

What bother you the most on unaccessible pdf?
What bother you a bit on unaccessible pdf?
What don't really bother you but people could pay more attention to that?

Thank you if you answer to that, it will really help me.

$1 can extract the text from PDFs. But tables never work, ugly page headers and footers are frequently repeated throughout the document, and pages are often in the wrong order. But if I need some info, and a PDF is the only place to get it, I can cope.

I don't read PDFs at all because they aren't structured like HTML, which prevents me from, for example, browsing them by heading / title. As far as I know there is no way around this limitation, and I remember never thinking about this back when I had my vision.
