Technical Help: Thunderbird 52.0 doesn't work with JAWS 17.0.2729 Windows 10 32-bit (self.Blind)

My wife has been using Thunderbird to read email ever since I recommended it to her some time ago. However, since updating it to 52.0 earlier today, JAWS no longer reads which message is selected when trying to navigate a mailbox. Any tips? Somewhere else I should ask? Another email program we should try?
She likes the intuitive keyboard commands, the ability to create a mailing list, and the (relative) stability Thunderbird offers. She needs any alternative email program to access gmail and hotmail over IMAP. She likes gmail online in basic HTML mode, but can't stand using outlook.com to access hotmail.

Does it work with $1? Even if she can't switch screen readers, this will at least help us figure out if it's a problem with thunderbird, or a problem with JAWS.

Yes, apparently NVDA is able to read the messages.

In that case, your best bet is to contact JAWS support directly, as it's likely to be a JAWS bug.
