This came up a few weeks ago and there was some interesting discussion. Personally, I think you can go either way: up front, or subtle.

If you're up front, your profile will state you are blind. You want to do so in a creative way though. I had a line once that was something like "I'm legally blind, so you know I'll always consider you more than just an aesthetically pleasing accessory" or something like that. So yes, being up front like that is a good idea.

The other way that was brought up in discussion the other week was being more subtle. Include pictures where you've got your cane out when you're out at the pub or something. Include activities or involvement in the blindness sector, e.g. I might say that I play blind cricket.

Either way you go, when you're chatting online with someone, you should try work in your blindness as soon as you can. For example, girl asks what I'm up to on the weekend "Oh Saturday I'm doing whatever, Sunday I've got our first (blind) cricket match for the season." The conversation that follows is "Wow, blind cricket? How does that work?" I'm sure you can come up with a way to do it that fits your situation. If it hasn't come up before and you're organising a date, should definitely state it plain.

I don't like online dating much and am terrible at it, so I hope you've more luck than I!

You can definitely do so cleverly, but I generally feel like its better to be up front about such things, as it helps to screen out potentially incompatible people quickly.

If it was me I think it's best to be upfront put it in your profile. "I am registered blind and use a white cane to get around. No I don't need you to look after me. How do you think I got here. Lol." Try something like that. It shows that you acknowledge your visual impairement but can also joke about it. I also like to say "why you sending a blind man pictures". You will figure it out most folk are cool about it and ask questions if they want to know anything,
