Like KNFB reader and a braille display, except in a dumb prototype device that will probably never get anywhere.

The cost is a significant factor. And statistically, they are unlikely to change the market. But if no one tries, then things would never change.

There's been substantial work done in the research of lowering the cost of braille displays. The transforming braille group's project being the very notable recent example with actual results.

That doesn't change the fact that a single-purpose device just for OCR and braille displaying OCR output is a dumb idea, and that when these women graduate this year odds are overwhelming they won't go any further.

Media attention, funding, human talent, and resources that could be spent on giving blind people what we actually want or need end up wasted on these "revolutionary projects" that are clearly dead ends in some way or another all the time. That is not the same as changing things.
