How Buzzfeed mocked and humiliated the gay blind communities. (blindjournalist.wordpress.com)

Good article! The only things I might have added are:

1. This isn't the first time buzzfeed has treated blind people as a sideshow to be exploited for ad dollars. This is an organizational issue at Buzzfeed, rather than just a single reporter who should have known better. You can find a thread about the most recent previous example here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Blind/comments/62fhg2/buzzfeed_continues_to_be_terrible_people_are/

2. Buzzfeed put multiple photos in the article. None of the photos they used had alt-text. First off, this means they're not even willing to go to the bother of making articles about blind people accessible enough for blind people to know how we're being presented. Second off, it's more proof, if you really needed it, that buzzfeed doesn't care about blind people as a community. They just want to use us. I realize this is a pretty small issue compared to the other issues, but as a straight white blind male, it was the first thing I noticed, probably just because the issues around gay representation don't impact me.

Oh! I have images turned off in firefox so if the alt text is not there I don't even know images exist. I will look at that thread soon! I had no idea it was multiple times, and no, all of this is good stuff! Thanks for pointing this out to me.

I'm sure there are more times Buzzfeed exploited blind people than just the one I linked above. If not, I wouldn't have written that Buzzfeed "continues to be terrible". Unfortunately, I forgot to link the other times Buzzfeed was terrible in that thread, and I can't remember any of them off the top of my head. If only googling for "Buzzfeed articles about blind people that I didn't like" would work LOL! This is why I like to try and link Reddit threads together; it really helps when I want to look back months later.

did I do the user linking right in the other thread? If not, could you assist passing my website to the folks? I wrote the below as a response to them saying that they can remove me from the article If I wanted.

I actually demand that you publish an article or a personal essay or a feature written by me and others quoted in that article, about what it is like to be blind and gay and I would like Buzzfeed to pay us for our time and effort, If the other subjects do not want to do their own writing, I'd like for your reporters to work with each of them to craft a better message.

Yeah, you did it right. As long as clicking on the username takes you to there profile, they'll get a Reddit message telling them they were mentioned.
