Precision Scale for Visually Impaired (self.Blind)
submitted by phenotype3d
I want to buy a talking precision scale, that measures with a precision of 0.1 g, for my visually impaired friend. I looked everywhere online but can't find one. Does someone here know of where I could find this kind of product? Thanks so much for the help.

The $1 is a good talking scale but is only accurate to about 3-5 grams. If you do find a good scale with 0.1g resolution that either talks or links to a phone application I would be very interested for measuring hops for brewing, coffee and spices.

I've heard the app for the Acacia Pearl works with voiceover, but, the scale is about $150

If you find one, I'd also like to know. Unfortunately, I suspect the answer could well be "nowhere". One hint might be to look into digital "smart scales" that can interface with a smartphone via bluetooth. If the smartphone app is accessible, that could work. However, I have no idea what the precision of smart scales is.

You saying "bluetooth scales" gave me the idea that someone must have made a connected coffee scale, and they have. It is 0.1g accurate.

Now I have to decide if I want to risk $99 to find out how accessible it is! (Yes, probably.)

I found other bluetooth scales, but I'm not sure which are 0.1g or not.
