Yep, as another poster said, maximise the window. I have no idea why it works but it does.

You can't. However pressing alt space, then arrowing down or pressing x will allow you to maximise the screen.

What browser? I have this issue in chrome sometimes, but not firefox.

Firefox, but I maximized the window, I think? How can I tell? I hardly use chrome unless I want to solve a captcha or something. I have images turned off and don't want to turn them back on again just to solve a captcha.

Odd. I've never had that problem in Firefox. Not using the compact view, though.
