The idea that braille and technology are at opposite ends and that braille has been "made obsolete" is an unfortunate myth. It's also so often perpetuated by those who have every financial incentive to encourage blind people to opt for (cheaper) text to speech only rather than also providing access to braille instruction, braille displays, etc.
