Hello /r/blind, I do freelance computer work in my area and one of my regular customers referred me to his friend who is blind. They both enjoy music and have large collections, his friends collection is completely on vinyl. Most of the music is from the 50s and I'm not sure there is a digital analog for his tastes in the current music services. Has anyone had good luck with the era of music and in particular a good appliance to access it such as the Amazon Echo or Siri via an app like Spotify etc.

If you can digitalize the collection then there are apps and computers/phones that are accessible.
For the vinyl, maybe label the cases in braille?

I was thinking just that. I've used a USB turntable before for my father and it worked well. Any suggestion for apps that would allow him to do it himself?

For digitizing records, $1 is probably all he needs, and it works perfectly with $1. He doesn't need any of the fancy features of something like Reaper, after all.

I don't know about the downloading. Apples voiceover should work though
