Olympus DM 720 not charging rechargeable batteries. (self.Blind)
submitted by reevesman
I'm posting this here because I know that there are tons of folks in our community who use these recorders.
When I plug the Olympus DM 720 into the wall and set it to AC adapter Mode, it doesn't seem to charge any of the rechargeable batteries that I put in it. When I turn it back on after it's unplugged, it still says "battery level low." Are these devices not designed to act as battery chargers? is the AC adapter Mode only meant to power the device? It's not a big deal if this is the case, because I have A battery charger. I just wanted to know if the recorder was acting as advertised.
Thanks so much for any help you guys can provide.

I don't own one of these. However, from the manual:
> • When [Battery] (☞ P.67) is set to [Ni-MH], [Press OK to start charging] appears on the display. Press the `OK button while this message is blinking.

So it looks like you need to make sure your battery setting is set correctly to rechargeable, and that you're pressing OK at the right time. You can grab the manual $1, and the PDF reads fine in QRead.

Thanks for this. I think that's the step I'm missing. I'm hitting OK to set it to USB AC adapter, but the screen must be showing something new that's not being spoken.

Related to this, there is a battery type option under device settings which may also need to be set.
