IOS 11 accessibility and other changes (self.Blind)
submitted by vwlsmssng
I help a blind person with using their iPad and iPhone. With IOS 11 there have been changes to the UI and how the accessibility works.

I want to know how other users have found the changes, what they like or think has improved.

For example, the new smart invert colours comes on as the default and although I've switched the iPad back to classic invert, it seemed to switch back again to smart invert. Smart invert doesn't seem to work for youtube videos.

The larger text option now seems to affect the list of emails on the left hand side of the email app, making for more scrolling to scan through them. As friend also uses Voiceover we have reduced the size of larger text to get more emails listed at the expensive of smaller text in the main email window.

Task switching has changed too.

So what do iPad / iPhone users think of iOS 11 accessibility?

The new "do not disturb while driving" prompts drive me nuts. I'm using voiceover; that probably means I will never be driving. And yet, there seems to be no way to turn these off on my iphone whenever I get into someone else's car, on a train, etc.

If you go to settings, then under “do not disturb”, the second to last setting in that page says “activate : automatically”.
If you click on it, you can set it to manual. This seemed to stop the prompts for me.

Thanks for the tip! Why that isn't just set when voiceover is on I don't know :-)

That sounds incredibly annoying.

I usually use the command center to turn off Bluetooth on my phone to switch which device my headphones are synced with. Now, the command center doesn't fully turn off wifi or Bluetooth! Stupid
