I think this depends on his skills, but the most practical thing seems to be doing what he's already good at. Put up posters in your area for massage sessions or ask his employer if he can use the facilities for private clients and cut the proceeds. Otherwise he'll have to develop a skill such as SEO, marketing, programming, web development, or sound engineering before he can get remote work. The internet doesn't really have a place for the equivalent of day laborers...you can make more money looking for change on the beach than you'll get with, say, Amazon Mechanical Turk.
