For those of you who don't subscribe to, or maybe even know about, /r/descriptionplease, I wanted to let you know of some big changes that are happening there, that will make image descriptions on Reddit better for everyone.
In short, /r/descriptionplease is now run by The Transcribers of Reddit, a team of people who specialize in transcribing and describing images from all over Reddit. That means that /r/descriptionplease is the only place to request that images be described. What does this mean for you? Well, it means that if you find any image on Reddit, and want it described, just post it to /r/descriptionplease! You'll get better, and quicker, descriptions than ever before! If you were previously calling /u/transcribersofreddit in a comment, that will no longer work, unfortunately.
If you'd like to see some examples of the sort of work the transcribers of reddit do, check out the /r/tor_archive sub, where you can find links to all of there completed content across Reddit.
Also, here are a couple sample threads showing /r/descriptionplease in action:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DescriptionPlease/comments/71rt6i/please_describe_this_artwork_because_im_curious/
Why not try it for yourself? For the moment, only images hosted by imgur.com and i.redd.it are fully supported. However, this will be changing in the near future!
Also, be sure to check out our
$1 that lists other places on the web where you can find described image content! And let us know if you can think of anything we should add to it.
