No sense of depth perception with lights?(self.Blind)
submitted by playwhaat
I am not fully blind, just completely near sighted and have a few other issues with sight. I currently am still able to use either contacts or glasses, however my glasses at this point have become too heavy and are uncomfortable to wear. So I wear contacts most of the time outside of my home.
Lately, I have noticed more loss of vision(with brand new contacts) and I can still see decently well, however I am having issues driving only at night. I cannot tell exactly where lights are(mainly headlights of moving cars), whether they are in a certain lane or not(allowing me to turn/switch lanes), which is a huge issue considering I need to make many turns to get home from work... Does anyone know why this is suddenly happening? Is it pointless to go to my eye doctor for this since it'll just be blamed on my bad vision? I don't feel that there is anything wrong with my current prescription...

If you are highly nearsighted, that can have a host of other issues related as well. How is your astigmatism?
The issues with night may possible be an early symptom of night blindness. When the doctor checks your eyes, he can take a look at your retina to see if there is any evidence of rod damage.
If you are diabetic, changes in blood sugar can also cause temporary vision issues sometimes as well.

I'm wondering if it is some sort of night blindness. Everything just seems so shadowy and weird, it's hard to explain. I never knew it was really a thing though.

My astigmatism is pretty bad from what I've been told. I have to have check ups to make sure something hasn't been stretched too thin or that things are still attached etc. I honestly don't know too much about what I have goin on besides that my vision is terrible

Check with the doc to see, then. It might be an underlying condition, or might be a temporary thing.

Just an update for anyone that cares/is going through something similar, I had my appointment today and my corneas were extremely dry, causing a lot of overactivity in trying to moisten my eyes. I also have a slight bacteria build up so I was prescribed a nightly ointment and hopefully all will be well in 2 weeks!

You're having changes in your vision. Check it out with your eye Doc to make sure it's not a symptom of something else that may get worse. Maybe there's something can be done to make it better with these contacts.

Just worries me because I already have issues and this came on suddenly. I'm definitely scheduling an appointment with my eye doctor considering I need to be able to drive lol. I honestly don't think it's the contacts but who knows. It seems like it's an issue with my focus? Which has always been in and out consistently.
