Hi everyone, i'm Dan, and I’m a grad student in the Human Computer Interaction program at DePaul University. I am in an accessibility course, and in this course, students complete a group project where they perform a research study related to accessibility. The research topic for my group is focused on gaming for people who are blind. We want to recruit individuals who are blind to get their feedback on the state of accessible gaming, and inquire about ways that the gaming industry could better accommodate individuals who are blind.
The interview is supposed to take place in person, and we are based in Chicago. If there is anyone interested in participating from Chicago, we would love your help. Or, if you don't live in Chicago but you know a gamer who is blind and lives in Chicago, feel free to refer them to us if you feel they may be interested. Anyone who participates would receive compensation in the form of a $15 gift card. If you are a gamer who is blind but do not live in the Chicago area, still feel free to let me know. We have been having trouble recruiting, and if we can't find enough people to interview in person, we will open the interviews up to phone interviews from where ever you are. So even if you aren't in Chicago, if you are a gamer who is blind and want to participate in this study, please don't hesitate to contact me!
There are three requirements you must match in order to participate:
1. You must be at least 18 years old
2. You must be blind or have a visual impairment that cannot be resolved using glasses
3. You must have some experience with video games
If anyone is interested in participating or reaching out to friends of yours who are gamers that are blind, it would be immensely helpful for my group and I. If not, I completely understand. You can reach me at dspinner@mail.depaul.edu, or you could message me directly on reddit. Thanks for the consideration, and have a great day!
