Hello! I'm an Interaction Design student and I am looking for some feedback on a conceptual project. A group of peers and I are developing a concept for a pair of glasses that blind or low vision individuals would wear that would connect with their phone and assist in their every day life. It would use small cameras on both top corners of the frames to track locations of cars and people while walking. It would have bone conduction audio in the tips of the glasses so that hearing wouldn't be inhibited. Click
$1 for an article about bone conduction headphones! The glasses would also have the capability to act as an extension of Siri on iPhone to FaceTime people (so they could see where you're looking at through your glasses) and to accomplish basic tasks.
When thinking through a concept like this, which topics seem useful and which seem like they could inhibit day to day life? Are there features that could be added/improved on? How useful would it be to have audible queues when someone is near you? How useful would a voice-activated assistant be to tell you where things are, give directions, and assist in reading signs?
Thanks for the help! I look forward to hearing what would be useful and what wouldn't!
Best,
Matt
Edit:
What is the best way to verbally communicate direction? Instead of "to your left" would "at 9 o'clock" be more helpful and more specific?
