I too was born legally blind, but my mother felt it more than I did, as I never considered myself disabled while my vision remained stable, and neither did other people of my age. Other kids knew I had a vision problem, of course, because at school I couldn't read from the blackboard and I had to get closer to things to see them in detail, but outside where it was relevant I was just another kid. Sometimes I wonder whether my personality played a role in protecting me from bullying
