What are the most useful wearable gadgets/technologies are for Blind or Low vision people? (self.Blind)
submitted by franemory
I'd like to get a birthday gift for a blind friend. He is really into wearable tech and I'd like to get something that he'll enjoy using.

ps: He does have an iPhone and he is 25 years old.

Thanks for your help!

The apple watch is the only fully accessible one I know of so far.

If you can tell also your budget, you can find better answers here.

Just give you an idea:

I came across with this company here on reddit. They are developing $1 which might be a good fit for your friend's birthday. It's a tiny camera attachment that can be snapped to any kind of glasses frame and has built-in speakers to tell what's around you. It's kind of a $1. It does recognize faces and can read text from any surface.

Since you didn't give details about your friends vision, I'm not sure if this is gonna be a good fit but I heard that it works out well for $1 too!

I think this would make a great fit if you can afford it!

My father did training at a location in Georgia. One of his trainers had this. She loved it. I wish I could afford it for him because this is so cool.

Happy birthday to your friend!

There are a lot of apps that you can buy and send him as a gift.

What is your budget like?
