One Eye Working (self.Blind)
submitted by Rustyvulva
Does anyone else have one eye failing and the other working? Every time I relax my eyes I see extreme double. It’s my left eye that is giving up on me. My optometrist has verified that my left eye is slowly going blind. I didn’t want to be a pirate... but maybe that’s my best career choice (27).

If you're 27, chances are you've already done some piracy in your life ;)

My right eye is much worse than my left and I basically don't use it for anything more than being aware of large objects. They have never looked in the same place because my left is so dominant, and the issue has becoming worse I've got older (I'm 29).

When I was 16 I was told I should do an exercise where you get a pen, hold it in front of you, focus in with both eyes, then slowly bring it closer until the point you see double. Extend it out again, repeat. You should be abler to get the pen closer each time as you exercise your eyes to focus on the same point. Spoilers: I didn't bother doing the exercise. Part of me wishes I had, the other part is cool just to roll with it. Pretty tempted with a pirate patch though, particularly for anything that isn't walking around.

So, no advice, but I know what you're experiencing and it is pretty annoying.

Lmao you got me at piracy. I’ve never been told about this eye strengthening exercise with the pen. I’m pretty sure it won’t hurt to try... I tried the exercise and it was extremely annoying. Doesn’t mean I won’t try it in the future.

Let me know what brand eye patch you choose, we could make it “popular.” 🤷🏻‍♀️
