Do people who go blind later in life continue to see mental images? (self.Blind)
submitted by giraffeaquarium
I recently discovered that I have $1, which means that I cannot form mental images. I didn't realize this was a thing that people can do. It made me wonder what happens to people who go blind later in life. Does their ability to see mental images change in any way over time?

I've been blind due to optic nerve damage caused by glaucoma for over 3 years and my ability to see mental images and dream with vision hasn't changed the slightest. Perhaps given more time I will start to lose this ability, but for now I can imagine vision as easily as I did back when I could actually see.

First time I've heard of this. I've been wondering for long time whether we can really "see" things we come up with in our minds, or are they just ideas.

This just left me more confused.

I'm with you in the confusion, I just came across this a few days ago.

Yes they do, well at least I know I do. I've been blind for 9 years now.
