A gift for my brother (self.Blind)
submitted by ilovepeekaboo
Hello so my blind brother is graduating and I have no idea what to get him. I was thinking of booking an adventures trip for him and honestly I have no idea where to book. If you guys have another plan in my mind why not. I’d love any suggestions!

You'd probably know better than anyone (well, except your brother himself) what he likes. A bunch of internet strangers are going to have no clue!

If you want to make something meaningful, that shows you put some effort in... maybe try recording an audiobook out of your favourite book, if it is hard to find an already-made one. Or record some audio description for a show that might otherwise be inaccessible or whatever. For example... know *Rick and Morty* has no audio description available, and a friend of mine has the right sort of sense of humour to enjoy it, so I plan to describe a few episodes for him, and see whether he wants me to continue with it for more of the series. Or transcribe some comics you think he'd enjoy... that might be an easier task.

My older brother recently lost his sight and plenty else due to brain cancer. Him & I used to love bonding over T.V. shows and movies. Understandably, listening to any sort of T.V. or movie now hurls him into a depressed state of mourning what he can no longer enjoy, all except for Rick & Morty. I'd start a religion with the way that show has made my brother laugh like we thought he would never do again. Hand to Kanye we've not watched anything else in the last 7 months. Super unwarranted comment, but I wanted to spread the gospel.

I'm glad he found something that makes him happy. I know losing an entire sense must be horribly terrifying, but... brains are more flexible than people seem to realize. As long as he doesn't give up... things will just continue to get better, easier, quicker.

You sound like a good sibling, sticking by him now, when it is most difficult to, but when he needs you the most. :) Is *Durden* your actual name, or is that as in... Tyler Durden or something?

I know what he likes. He actually wants to visit Lebanon but it’s too dangerous now. I really wanna book him a place filled with insane activities.

Ohhh I loved the audio book idea. I usually do describe to him all the time when we’re at the cinema. It would be amazing. Thank you Larry :)

Kein Problem! :) Do you do a fair bit of travelling? Where have you two gone before? Any places he really liked that he might want to return to? And what kind of "insane activities" are you thinking? Sounds like you're looking to create quite an adventure!

Actually me and him haven’t travelled for so long.
I wish I could do that again tho. But unfortunately I can’t. I really wanna book him a ticket and the hotel stay and also ask his best friend to accompany him as a surprise.

He loved the Netherlands so much. We’ve been to Denmark and Sweden also. But I feel like taking to him to somewhere he has never been to.

Crazy activities like Going to quirky museums.
Parachutes
Under ground clubs.
Mountain climbing.
Or those crazy scary rope jumping activities you know..
Haha yes I am! I’m looking for anything that is exciting because he’s been studying hard and he really deserves it.
